Polyester resin is the largest volume resin used for pultrusion and the cost of polyester resin has nearly doubled in the past two years due to the increasing cost of a barrel of oil. There is not much pultrusion manufacturers can do to isolate themselves from escalating resin prices.

We are continually working on manufacturing efficiencies to include scrap reduction, but rising resin costs do have an impact on manufacturing costs. Fortunately, glass reinforcements, the other major raw material cost, have been very stable over the past few years.
